Massachusetts state trooper injured in crash on Route-93

MILTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said they’re investigating after one of their troopers was injured in a car crash early Sunday morning.

Officials said at approximately 3:15 a.m., a trooper responded to a crash on Route-93 north between Exits 3 and 4.

While the trooper was standing next to his cruiser at the crash, authorities said another car came towards the accident and truck the trooper.

The trooper was taken to a Boston hospital with serious but not life-threating injuries, where he remains undergoing tests and treatment, according to state police.

“This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every time they leave home and assume their role as public safety professionals,” State Police Colonel John Mawn Jr. said

Three of the northbound travel lanes were closed for the initial investigation.

No criminal charges have been filed but the investigation remains ongoing.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information is released.
