Rhode Island Midnight Basketball League to return for the summer

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Midnight Basketball League will return for the summer.

Organizers met with the community at the court at the Kent County YMCA at 900 Centerville Rd. in Warwick on Tuesday.

They said the program is “more than just basketball” and serves as a safe space for those 18 and older.

The program features music, food, and festivities. The league aims to bring police and the community together.

Part of the goal is to prevent gun violence or impaired driving tragedies in the summer months by promoting a positive activity.

Registration is open now on the league’s website.

Games will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting July 11.
