RIDOH recommends closing 2 swimming spots for high bacteria levels

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health announced they’re recommending two swimming spots be closed due to high bacteria levels.

According to officials, both Slack’s Pond Beach in Smithfield and Ginny-B Campground in Foster both have high bacteria levels in the water.

The department said it will continue to monitor the water quality through Labor Day.

This comes shortly after a popular beach club in Narragansett was closed, then later reopened, after high bacteria levels were reported.
