Fall River street reopens after tree falls

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River street was closed after a tree fell across the roadway Wednesday night.

ABC 6 News crews saw police close Meridian Street from Willow Street to Wilson Road.

National Grid workers were on site and told ABC 6 that power was restored to the homes that were impacted by the tree falling.

Tree removal crews arrived on the scene just before 10 p.m. and made quick work of the scene, clearing the debris in less than an hour.

Officials told ABC 6 they believe the tree fell as a result of rot and old age.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
