R.I. Big Brothers Big Sisters raises over $70K during summer fundraiser

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island said it raised over $70,000 during its annual Annual Summer Fundraiser, “Welcome to Summer.”

The June 24 event at Bonnet Shores Beach Club involved live entertainment, food, and raffles.

Director of Marketing Tina Santos said the amount of money raised made this year’s event the most successful yet.

“100 percent of the event proceeds remain local, directly supporting hundreds of one-to-one youth mentoring relationships throughout Rhode Island,” she added.

A portion of the funds went to support the organization’s Campership Fund in  honor of the life of Catherine Ranaldi, who Santos said was a “close friend of the event committee.”
