North Providence settles in Police officer harassment suit

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A settlement has been reached in a sexual harassment lawsuit by North Providence’s highest ranking female officer.

Lieutenant Diana Perez filed the suit in 2017 against the city’s then-acting Police Chief Christopher Pelagio.

Perez alleged that Pelagio made inappropriate comments about her body and discriminated against her because she’s a woman.

Lawyers representing Perez told ABC6 News Wednesday that she was awarded $150,000 in the settlement.
