FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford man is accused of breaking into a Freetown home and business minutes apart.

Police said a burglar alarm went off at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Freetown VFW Post.

Officers said they found 38-year-old Brandon Gomes wandering around the bar drinking beer from a bottle.

They reported Gomes was “not lawfully present” and was tased after a struggle.

Police were then called at about 10:45 a.m. to a reported break-in at a home on Braley Road, which happened a few minutes earlier.

Responding officers connected Gomes to that incident as well.

Police said Gomes continued to act disruptively at the police station, damaging the detainee holding area.

Gomes faces several charges including breaking and entering, larceny, assault and battery on a police officer, and malicious destruction of property under $1,200.

He is set to be arraigned in Fall River District Court on Wednesday.
