75-year-old Massachusetts man killed after tree falls on truck

NEW SALEM, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said they’re investigating after a 75-year-old man was killed when a tree fell on his truck in New Salem on Wednesday.

According to police, at 11:48 a.m., state troopers responded to Route-122 near the intersection of Sweezey Road for reports of a tree fallen onto a truck.

Officials said preliminary investigations determined that 75-year-old William Mattei, of Leicester, Mass., was traveling on Route-122 when a tree fell on top of his vehicle.

Police said Mattei was determined dead on the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police.
