Police release sketch of suspect in Waltham walking path attack

Massachusetts State Police shared this rendering of the suspect they said assaulted a woman in Waltham.

WALTHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police released a sketch of the suspect who they said assaulted a woman on a walking path late last month.

According to police, the suspect they’re searching for is believed to be a Hispanic man in his late 20s or 30s, who’s approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and was wearing a baseball cap at the time of the assault.

Police said at around 8 p.m. on July 30, a woman in her 20s was walking on the footbridge between Newtown and Farewell Streets near the Shaw’s supermarket.

The victim told officials she heard footsteps come up behind her before she was grabbed by someone who tried to put their hand over her mouth.

Officials said victim was able to scream and struggled to get free. The assailant then let go of her and ran off.
