State bomb squad responds to ‘suspected pipe bomb’ in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A large response took place in Pawtucket for a “suspicious device” found in a home.

Det. Sgt. Christopher LeFort said that the Pawtucket Police and Fire Departments, as well as State Fire Marshals, responded to 150 Memorial Dr. for a suspected pipe bomb a resident found while cleaning a family member’s room.

LeFort said that firefighters determined there was no immediate danger from the device, as it had been handled by numerous people before first responders arrived.

He added that members of the state’s bomb squad disposed of the device.
