Coventry FD: Abandoned home damaged in 2-alarm fire

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — Coventry police closed off part of the road Tuesday night as firefighters put out a massive 2-alarm house fire.
Firefighters said the fire started around 6:30 p.m. at an abandoned house on Lionel Pierson Road.
According to neighbors, the fire seemed to come out of nowhere.
“I looked out and saw a little bit of flame. I turned back to what I was doing and literally three minutes later, I looked out the door and the entire sky was orange. It was fully engulfed in flames, maybe 10 or 15 feet in the air,” said neighbor Bruce Palmer.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but it is officials said they are considering it to be suspicious because the house has been vacant for a long period of time.
No one was injured.
