Johnston Police investigating armed robbery

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are investigating an armed robbery of a Johnston convenience store Sunday afternoon.

Surveillance footage shows a man entering the Shop N Go convenience store at 1569 Plainfield Pike around 3:18 p.m. Sunday, before displaying what appears to be a black semi-automatic handgun, threatening the clerk and leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash and a pack of cigarettes.

The video shows the suspect wearing a black zip-up jacket, blue jeans, and black sneakers, and concealed his face with a black and red ski mask and a black knit cap.

Police said the suspect was operating an older model green Mercury Mariner, and may be working with the operator of a silver Mercedes also captured on surveillance.
