Water main break creates sinkhole, floods Middle Avenue in Tiverton

TIVERTON, R,I. (WLNE) — A water main break flooded a road in Tiverton on Wednesday evening.

Police Chief Patrick Jones told ABC 6 News that a water main broke on Middle Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

A sinkhole also appeared to be forming in the area.

The Rhode Island Department of Public Works arrived to the scene around 8:40 p.m.

Officials said the repair could take roughly four hours.
