5 displaced after North Providence car fire spreads to apartments, business

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Five people are displaced Wednesday after a car fire spread to a business and a multi-family home in North Providence.

The fire department was called to Woonasquatucket Avenue around 10 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a car up in flames.

Police said the fire melted the apartment building’s siding and the electrical service.

Two families were displaced after officials had to cut the power.

An ABC 6 News crew saw the charred car behind police tape on Wednesday morning.

Police said the cause of the fire was accidental.

Police said there were no injuries and both buildings should be fine.

The incident is under investigation.
