Meet the Candidates: Sen. Sandra Cano

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — ABC 6 News spoke with Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District special election, Sandra Cano on Monday.

A State Senator from Pawtucket who also served on the Pawtucket city council, Cano said she thinks its a shame that Rhode Island doesn’t have independent polling but she believes that residents will choose someone they trust to represent them on a federal level.

“I do feel, in fact, that my track record, my professional and legislative experience and doing the work that I’ve been doing in the communities throughout my 12 years around, I do believe that is enough for [voters] to understand that they have someone with them that they can trust, that will get the job done and bring the infrastructure to Rhode Island that we deserve,” Cano explained.

The special election for the 1st Congressional District seat to replace former Rep. David Cicilline will take place on Sept. 5.
