WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Woonsocket Police Department said that Woonsocket High School was locked down and searched Friday morning due to apparent threats from Snapchat videos that were later determined to be a hoax.

Deputy Chief Thomas Calouro said that a School Resource Officer was shown the videos, which apparently made direct threats against the school, around 8:30 a.m.

Calouro said that multiple local and federal agencies were involved in the response, which then determined the threats were a “swatting hoax.”

He added that an investigation is still underway and that there was no active threat to the city at any point during the incident.
