Providence man arrested after barricading self in Pawtucket apartment

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A Providence man is being charged with charges including sexual assault after an hours-long standoff with Police.
Oladapo Disu, 21, of Providence, was arrested Wednesday on numerous charges after barricading himself inside a Pawtucket apartment following a sexual assault.
Pawtucket Police responded to reports of a sexual assault at a Weeden Street apartment around 12:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim, who was no longer on the scene, contacted Police to report the assault, saying that the suspect, since identified as Disu, was armed with a firearm and may still be inside the apartment.
Officers created a perimeter around the residence and negotiators began attempts to contact Disu. Rhode Island State Police sent SWAT units to assist in the effort.
Approximately two hours later, Disu exited the residence peacefully and was arrested without incident.
Disu faces the following charges:
- First Degree Sexual Assault
- Assault W/Intent to Commit a Felony
- Kidnapping of a Minor
- Using a Firearm while Committing a Crime of Violence
- Possession of a Firearm w/Altered marks of ID
- Weapons other than Firearms Prohibited
- Obstruction
- Disorderly Conduct
He will be arraigned in Providence District Court Thursday morning.
