Suspect in court following River Ave. homicide

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are investigating a homicide on River Avenue in Providence.

Police responded to River Avenue Tuesday morning for reports of a stabbing. Officers located a deceased female victim at the address.

Investigators say 33-year-old Rachel Rene was the victim of this stabbing.

Her boyfriend, 34-year-old Luis Motta, was in police custody as of Tuesday morning, after turning himself into police shortly after the crime.

Police say they were in a relationship and that he admitted to stabbing Rene with their 8-month-old baby nearby.
