Coogan finishes first in preliminary Fall River election

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Unofficial results posted by Fall River Government Television say the first place finisher in the city’s mayoral preliminary election is Mayor Paul Coogan.

Former mayor Sam Sutter finished second. Both he and Coogan advance to the November general election. The top two finishers advance from today’s preliminary race.

The city’s television station reports Coogan pulled in the most votes, with an unofficial final count of 4,284.

Sam Sutter came in second to Coogan, collecting 2,516 votes and Michael Vandal pulled in 326 votes. Vandal will not be on the ballot in the general election.
