Massachusetts residents encouraged to fill out online survey as state seeks federal disaster assistance

ATTLEBORO, M.A. (WLNE) — After last week’s severe flooding across Southern New England, the mayor of Attleboro is urging Massachusetts residents to complete an online survey in an effort to receive federal assistance.

Mayor Cathleen DeSimone said the impacts in Attleboro vary, with some residences seeing lots of water and multiple downtown businesses impacted from the river overflowing.

The Massachusetts Management Agency will take the surveys from residents impacted by flooding to start building a case to potentially unlock federal funds.

DeSimone said if you were impact by severe weather, it doesn’t hurt to fill out the survey.

“If you have a chance to get it, why not? Because some folks are look at, by the time you take everything out of your basement, you take everything, you have to throw out everything that was wet, you’re going to be into thousands of dollars,” DeSimon said.

The deadline to complete the online form isSept. 29.
