Man arrested in Fall River for drug, gun possession sentenced to 5 years

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said that a Brockton man who was arrested in Fall River while carrying a loaded stolen firearm and 40 suboxone strips was sentenced to serve time in state prison.

Melvin Arias-Brown pled guilty to charges of carrying a loaded illegal firearm, carrying an illegal firearm, receiving stolen property, and possession of a Class B drug.

Quinn said that the 23-year-old had three warrants when he was arrested on April 20, 2022 near Snell Street in Fall River.

He was also on probation for a case involving a breaking and entering and larceny for which he did jail time.

When Arias-Brown was arrested police found a firearm reported stolen by Avon police as well as the suboxone.

Quinn said he will serve a three to five year prison sentence.
