Tiverton Police Department shares August ‘month-in-review’ crime statistics

TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Tiverton Police Department shared a “month-in-review” for the town’s crime statistics for the month of August.
According to the department, the total number of recorded offenses in the town is 109. Eight of those were felonies, 45 were related to crime incidents and 79 were not related to crime incidents. Of the 109 offenses, 41 arrests were made.
In traffic statistics, there were 43 recorded car crashes in the town and 324 traffic stops. Of those 324 stops, 68 municipal court citations, 47 RITT citations, 209 verbal warnings were given. Eight people were also arrested for DUI.
Compared to August, 2022, Tiverton Police said crimes against people happened 29% less, crimes against property happened 5% more, crimes against society happened 43% less and “group B” crimes including loitering and disorderly conduct happened 33% less than last year.
