Six juveniles arrested in connection to Mansfield car thefts

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — Mansfield police said six juveniles from Rhode Island were arrested in connection to multiple vehicle thefts in the Back Bay neighborhood Monday morning.
According to police, calls came in around 3:19 a.m. reporting that people were trying to break into cars on Church Street, and had been successful.
Mansfield, Plainville and Massachusetts State Police all began investigating, setting up a perimeter of the area where the break-ins happened and followed the fleeing suspects through yards and wooded areas between Samoset, Church and Cottage Streets.
Officials said they were able to recover a car that was stolen from Cottage Street, and later stopped another car around 4:45 a.m., with four juveniles wearing wet and muddy clothing. All the juveniles were arrested after the stop.
Around 6 a.m., police said calls began coming in from other victims in the area who awoke to their cars being burglarized with discarded personal belongings found throughout the affected areas.
At approximately 7 a.m., a 911 call reported another person trying to enter another car on Hope Street who fled down the road.
At 10:40 a.m., a caller on Glen Street reported two more suspects running through their yard and neighborhood. Both later surrendered to police and were arrested.
In all, police said six juveniles from Rhode Island were arrested and will appear in Taunton District Court on the following charges:
- Breaking and entering into a motor vehicle (daytime)
- Breaking and entering into a motor vehicle (nighttime)
- Malicious damage to a motor vehicle
- Larceny of a motor vehicle
- Conspiracy
- Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
- Receiving stolen property
Police are now asking anyone who lives in the area of the break-ins to check their cars for any items that may have been stolen and are reminding the public to remove all valuables and lock their cars before leaving them unattended.
