Cranston City Council passes resolution to save Budlong Pool

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston City Council passed its “save the Budlong Pool” resolution Monday night.
The resolution passed with five votes in favor, and three against. In passing, the council urged Mayor Ken Hopkins to use the $4M in ARPA funding and another $750K in grants to build the pool as large as possible.
The resolution also asked that the pool house be brought up to code after it closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public amenity was ruled unsafe by city officials back in 2022, beginning the debate on how to move forward.
