FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police rescued a swan that made its way onto Interstate 195 in Fall River.

The agency was called for a swan on the run over the weekend. Two troopers had to stop all traffic to retrieve it.

The swan tried to get away at first, standing firm in the center lane.

Troopers were eventually able to pick it up and bring it into a cruiser.

They then took it to a safe place, where troopers said it “smiled” back at them after it was released.
