South Kingstown police make 2 weekend DUI arrests

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The South Kingstown Police Department announced they arrested two people for DUI and refusing to submit to a chemical test on Sunday.

According to police, at approximately 12 a.m., Sunday, police said they arrested 20-year-old Jacob Alden Jr., of Narragansett for suspicion of DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Officials said Alden Jr. crashed his car into the woods off of Ministerial Road. Neither him nor his passenger were injured in the crash.

Alden Jr. later failed a series of field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He is expected to appear in court on October 12.

South Kingstown police also said that at 5:55 p.m., Saturday, officers arrested Jon Phillips, 52, of South Kingstown for suspicion of DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Officials said Phillips was stopped for driving an unregistered car and later failed a series of sobriety tests. He is set to appear in court on October 12.
