Summer-like feel entering fall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — We’re seeing a warming trend Monday with hazy sunshine.

It’s a gorgeous start to the work week across the entire region. High pressure is in control today through Friday. Today, we’re soaking in the sunshine with temperatures this afternoon in the mid 70s, normal high 69.

We’re also in store for a spectacular sunset due to the hazy sky from the wildfires burning in eastern Canada. Overnight we will continue to enjoy these clear skies which will allow for radiational cooling in the lower 50s.

Meanwhile, this warm air mass will intensify as we head into this Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures around 80. We’re not ruling the potential for some records.

TUESDAY RECORDS
Providence — 83 (1922)
New Bedford — 79 (2013)

WEDNESDAY RECORDS
Providence — 85 (1959)
New Bedford — 82 (2007)

Dry and quiet weather will persist through late in the week with high clouds moving on Thursday and temperatures cooling a bit into the mid 70s. By Friday, we have approaching cold front from the west.

We’ll see clouds increase considerably by the end of the week with widespread showers late Friday into Saturday with a potential for thunderstorms.

Once this cold front pushes through, we can enjoy drier and cooler weather Sunday and Monday with temperatures in the mid to lower 60s, below average for this time of the year.

For now, let’s enjoy this delightful summer-like weather in the fall.
