Crumbl Cookies in Dartmouth told ABC 6 over email that the owners of the store did not make the post, adding that they pay all their employees from the time they begin their orientation, training, and start working.
ABC 6 reached out to Crumbl corporate who said they were aware of one of their franchisees requiring potential employees to complete the unpaid “trial shift.”
In a statement, Crumbl said in part, “This is unacceptable. The franchisee was not authorized to post the message; therefore, we have taken appropriate and swift action. Based on our initial investigation, we do not believe that anyone completed an unpaid trial shift. At Crumbl, such practices are not permitted. We require our franchisees to strictly comply with all federal and state employment laws. We are dedicated to ensuring a just and positive work atmosphere across all our stores and will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the highest ethical standards in our operations.”
