Cumberland elementary school reopens after strong smell cancelled class for 2 days

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — An elementary school in Cumberland will open back up on Thursday after an odor forced it to close for two days.
The Cumberland School Department said the Cumberland Community School will have classes and programs as usual.
Fire Chief Nicholas Anderson and a hazmat team checked the air quality in the building and deemed it safe to reopen.
School was cancelled for two days in a row after staff members discovered a strange odor on Tuesday morning.
The strong smell came after a construction company applied a paint product to the pavement outside the school.
