WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi is offering pumpkins to those struggling “to keep their heads above water.”

Picozzi said anyone who is struggling financially and needs a pumpkin to take one from the walkway in front of his home at 75 Gristmill Rd.

“Maybe you’re a single parent, a grandparent on a budget, whatever, it’s a simple gift to people in our community that may need a little help,” he said. “You don’t need to knock on the door or ask, just take one.”

Picozzi added that his family buys the pumpkins from St. Marks Episcopal Church, which uses the proceeds for its food pantry, and that he and his wife have been offering the pumpkins for the last five years.

“You don’t need to feel embarrassed because believe me, my wife Kim and I have had our share of struggles over the years,” he said. “We enjoy doing it, so please don’t make a big deal out of it.”
