Woonsocket man faces charges after police chase ends in crash

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A Woonsocket man is accused of leading police on a chase and crashing into parked cars on Sunday night.

Police said Luis Rivas Melendez is suspected of driving under the influence and fleeing from officers in the Morin Heights area.

The chase ended when Melendez crashed into multiple parked cars, police said.

The cars were all unoccupied.

He faces multiple motor vehicle charges, resisting arrest, and obstruction.
