PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island leaders will announce the first cohort of the Wavemaker Fellowship to include healthcare professionals on Tuesday.

Gov. Dan McKee, Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner, and other state officials will speak at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center in Providence.

The announcement is set for 10 a.m.

The Wavemaker Fellowship offers financial incentives to graduates interested in a career or starting a business in fields like science, technology, or engineering in Rhode Island. The program defrays student loan payments for up to four years.

It includes a refundable Tax Credit Certificate for those who qualify, which is worth the value of their yearly student loan costs for up to four years.

The Wavemaker Fellowship also connects graduates to personal and professional development programs and networking opportunities.
