Man accused of stabbing Taunton officers, chief of police found competent, held without bail

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Lakeville, Massachusetts man accused of stabbing five police officers after a brief car chase was found competent and held without bail.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Douglas Hagerty was deemed criminally responsible for allegedly attacking Taunton police officers with a knife.
He faces numerous felony charges stemming from the incident where he allegedly slashed several officers after leading them on a chase and crashing into a house on West Britannia Street.
Hagerty, who was known to police prior to the incident, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment back in September.
Police say he allegedly slashed one officer in the face and the back of his head. A second officer and Taunton’s Chief of Police, Ed Walsh, were also treated for stab wounds.
Hagerty will return to court at a later date.
