Police say no active threat at East Providence High School, 1 in custody after incident

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An incident at East Providence High School on Thursday will keep police on the property until at least dismissal time.

East Providence police said one person was taken into custody and the situation remains under investigation.

Police said there was no active threat and the incident was immediately handled.

The agency noted that students and staff are safe, and there is no need to respond to the school.

Those picking up students are asked to go to the Shaw’s parking lot.
