East Providence police say more patrols should be expected at high school after stabbing
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An East Providence High School student was left in serious condition after police said a classmate stabbed him in the school bathroom.
The 16-year old boy was rushed to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and his 17-year old classmate was arrested shortly after.
Their names were not released.
Police said the 16-year-old was stabbed in a school bathroom by a classmate, allegedly after an argument about a vape.
Parents lined up outside of the school all afternoon, waiting to hear what exactly was going on inside.
The department said the stabbing was an isolated incident and there was no threat.
Students and parents should expect an increased police presence at the school in the following days.
ABC 6 News was told there will be resources available for students and staff dealing with the fallout of the incident.
