East Providence Heritage Arts to celebrate the arts with Battle of the Bands

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — East Providence Heritage Arts will combine art, music, and cultural appreciation in a Battle of the Bands this weekend.
It will be the first event East Providence Heritage Arts will host under their new name. Providence residents may recognize their community imprint from their former work as East Providence Heritage Days — a festival that entertained local audiences for 40 years.
Diane Sullivan, director of recreation for the city, said the organization has always been a staple for entertainment.
“Ethnic, rhythm and blues, motown sound, and that tradition has continued from the beginning. We’ve always kept that music element,” she said.
Five musical groups will duke it out in 20-minute sets for a chance to win a grand prize of $500 and studio recording time.
The Battle of the Bands will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Elmasian Auditorium on Pawtucket Avenue.
Tickets are $10.
ABC 6’s Karah Bailey will be there as one of the judges.
