Prout senior collects shoes to send Congolese woman to law school

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) -A Prout High School senior received a helping hand for her school service project.

The Prince Hall Masons held a massive shoe drive Saturday to help Bella Bianco, who is raising money to help send a woman in the Congo to law school. If Bianco collects 2,500 shoes, she will receive $1,000 to go toward that woman’s tuition, through an organization called Fungs to Orgs.
The shoes will go to small businesses in developing countries for them to sell.

“Sometimes the help you get are from places you never even thought you would get it from, and so many people have shown their generosity by reaching out and helping us in so many great ways,” Bianco told ABC6 News. “One pair of shoes makes so much of a difference to us, so I’d like to just say thank you.”

Bella will be collecting shoes until January 14 at St. Gregory the Great in Warwick and the Warwick Beacon offices.
