Cumberland police investigating overnight shots fired incident

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cumberland Police Department said it is investigating a shots fired incident that took place during the early morning hours Saturday.

Chief Matt Benson said that police were called to the Cumberland Crossing apartment complex around 2 a.m. for reports of multiple gunshots.

Officers determined that a shooting did occur but no injuries were reported.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the department at 401-333-2500.
