Armed robbery in Cranston may be connected to others in the area, police say

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said an armed robbery that happened Tuesday night is likely connected to other robberies from earlier in the week.
According to Cranston’s Chief of Police, Colonel Michael Winquist, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Tuesday, police received a report of an armed robbery at the Food and Fuel on Cranston Street.

Officials said a suspect wearing all black clothing and a mask pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. Anyone who recognizes the suspect should not approach them and call 911 immediately.
The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot towards Lincoln Avenue with the cash.
The suspect is described as being a light-skinned Black man. The description, police say, is consistent with the suspect responsible for two armed robberies in Pawtucket, one in Central Falls, one in Providence and another in Attleboro over the past few days.
Detectives and patrol officers are on the scene investigating. A K-9 team is also searching the area.
