BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Suffolk County District Attorney’s said an Attleboro man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the vandalization of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston’s South End.

Michael Patzelt was charged with assault and malicious destruction of property.

The office said the 37-year-old was accused of damaging a statue of Jesus outside the church on Tuesday night.

Multiple witnesses allegedly saw Patzelt commit the crime, as well as saw him knock a hat off the head of a woman at the scene.

The incident was allegedly videotaped.

The judge ordered Patzelt to stay away from the church and witnesses. He was held on $5,000 bail and is expected back in court on Nov. 30.
