Crews safely remove driver after crash off I-95 in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was seriously hurt after a crash off the highway and down an embankment early Friday.

The crash happened off Interstate 95 near the Apex building in Pawtucket.

An ABC 6 News crew saw dozens of police and fire crews trying to get to the man trapped inside the heavily damaged truck.

The truck was in a difficult spot, halfway down an embankment. Firefighters set up ladders to climb up to the crash scene.

The man was responsive as crews provided emergency care while trying to free him.

Crews got the man out safely just before 6:30 a.m.

He was taken down the hill to an ambulance waiting for him.’

Police said he suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Drivers on I-95 southbound should expect delays as crews pull the truck back onto the bridge.
