1 victim has died after shooting at Worcester State University
WORCESTER, Mass. (WLNE) — Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr. said that one of the victim’s in Saturday morning’s double shooting at Worcester State university has died.
Massachusetts State Police, Worcester police, and Worcester State University Police are still investigating a double shooting that took place in the parking garage of the school.
Early said that the other victim of the shooting went through surgery after being taken to UMass Medical Center.
Worcester police said that one person who had “left the scene” was apprehended and charged with trespassing and possession of a firearm.
“This does not appear to be a random incident,” Early said. “The parties that were involved knew each other, from what we can ascertain.”
None of those involved were students at the university, Early added.
All on- and off- campus activities have also been cancelled, though the shelter-in-place order for the campus has been lifted.
The incident is still under investigation and anyone with any video or information should contact campus police at 508-929-8911.
