East Providence man charged in connection to shots fired incident

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence Police Department announced a man was arrested in connection to a shots fired incident on Saturday.
According to police, 37-year-old Kevin Rodriguez was arrested and charged with discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, attempted domestic breaking and entering, domestic disorderly conduct, vandalism, two counts of large capacity feeding devices prohibited and obstructing an officer.
Officials said that in the early morning hours of Oct. 28, officers responded to City View Avenue for reports of shots fired. When police arrived on scene, they said they found six spent shell casings in the roadway.
After a brief investigation, police learned six shots were fired from a black vehicle before it sped away from the scene.
Detectives later learned that Rodriguez had threatened to shoot various people and start a shootout with police. Rodriguez was also known to drive a car that matched the description of the one that left the scene where shell casings were found.
Further investigation revealed Rodriguez was also involved in an attempted breaking an entering to an estranged family member’s home in East Providence on Oct. 29.
Officers were able to arrest Rodriguez outside his home on Fort Street without incident at 5 p.m. on Oct. 29. A subsequent court ordered search warrant was executed on his home which led to the seizure of the following:
- Approximately 700 rounds of pistol, rifle and shotgun ammunition
- Two semi-automatic pistols
- One AR-15 rifle
- One shotgun
- Several large capacity magazines
More ammunition was found after another search warrant was executed on Rodriguez’s car which police determined to match the rounds found at the scene of the shooting.
He was arraigned Monday afternoon and released on $10,000 bail.
