Fire at multi-level Pawtucket home leaves 1 dead, multiple displaced
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Pawtucket Fire Department said that one person was found dead after a house fire on Wednesday.
A heavy fire broke out at a multi-level home on Cole Street just before 11 a.m.
Fire officials said it took almost two hours to knock the fire down.
One person was found dead. Their name was not immediately released.
Two other residents escaped safely from the third floor.
Officials said a police officer had a minor injury.
Dozens of firefighters surrounded the house as smoke billowed from the top floor.
The roof was significantly damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
