Officers search Rumford neighborhood for wanted man

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — East Providence police were searching a Rumford neighborhood for a man they said is wanted and fled from police on foot.

According to a spokesman for the East Providence Police Department, officers searched the area of Washburn Avenue for the suspect around 9 p.m. tonight.

The identity of the suspect was not released.

ABC 6 News crews were on the scene where several officers were seen searching in and around a home with guns drawn and K-9 units.

According to officials, the suspect is known to police and is wanted on domestic-related charges.

No further information regarding the suspect was immediately available.
