Providence Police Dept. now has 9 officers who tested positive

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): There are now 9 providence police officers who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Commander Thomas Verdi.

Three of the nine officers have returned to work, according to Verdi.

The department has tested over 45 officers.

Only officers who exhibit symptoms or have had prolonged contact with anyone who tested positive are getting tested.
