Man charged in alleged hit-and-run that critically injured 71-year-old

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A man is facing charges after an alleged hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with serious injuries on Thursday evening.

Woonsocket police responded to Diamond Hill Road around 6:15 p.m. for a reported hit-and-run.

Officers said a 71-year-old was rushed to nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police said 30-year-old Jared Travers was charged with duty to stop in accident resulting in serious injury and duty to render assistance.

He will be arraigned in Providence District Court on Friday.
