Providence woman arrested for DUI after 3-car crash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island State Police said a Providence woman was arrested for DUI while children were in her car after a crash Friday evening.
Stefane Garcia was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, two counts of DUI with a passenger under 13 years of age, reckless driving, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
Police said they responded around 6 p.m. to the area of Route 10 North near Union Avenue where a car, allegedly driven by 36-year-old Garcia, struck a vehicle that then drove into another car.
Garcia then allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody.
Her two children were transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police said the incident meant Garcia violated her probation for cruelty to or neglect of a child and she was subsequently remanded to the Adult Correctional Institutions.
The children were taken into Department of Children, Youth, and Families custody.
