Car crashes into Pawtucket home overnight, catches fire

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Some Pawtucket residents had a rude awakening Monday when a car crashed into a home and caught fire.

Fire officials told an ABC 6 News crew on scene around 2 a.m. a car was speeding with sparks coming from it. It then crashed into a home at the corner of Broadway Street and Clark Avenue.

Firefighters evacuated the home and quickly put the fire out.

The crash prompted a heavy police and fire response.

An ABC 6 crew observed first responders surround the empty car, which was still smoking. The hood was badly damaged.

It was unknown if the driver stayed on scene.

No further information was immediately released.
