New Bedford man arrested for late-October shooting
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said it arrested a man in connection with a shooting at the Temple Landing housing development that occurred on Oct. 25.
Hector Abreu-Garcia was charged with assault and battery with a firearm with intent to murder among other charges.
The department said police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and on arrival found a male victim injured by gunfire, who was transported to the hospital and expected to recover.
29-year-old Abreu-Garcia was later taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
The department said that he had a “lengthy criminal history for a variety of offenses including two previous convictions of firearm possession.”
He is currently being held without bail.
